Sensus – a wearable adjustable navigation device for the blind and visually impaired. Using an infrared sensor it detects an obstacle and sends a vibration that intensifies when an obstacle is getting closer.

The device can be attached to almost everything. It uses different parts that can be easily inserted in the device. These include a clip, a ring, a clip to attach it to the white cane and an armband. These parts fit in a compact case in which the device can be charged and the parts carried at any time anywhere.

80% of the information our brain receives comes through
our eyes

188.5 million people have mild vision impairment, 217 million have moderate to severe vision
impairment.

The white is an essential item to carry – it gives recognition of a blind person and cannot ever show wrong information (eg. run out of battery).

Blind people are not fully integrated into society and feel
left out. A high amount of people ascribe mental disabilities to blind people.

Current devices in the markets are very low rated, they’re difficult to use and understand. 

Devices in the markets are not adapted to use see obstacles above waist. 

GOALS

Create a device which sighted wants to see and the blind wants to have by combining visible and tactile design.

Create a device which can be adapted to users’ needs, easy use and  meant to be used with the white cane.
